SUMMARY:Garden Tour: Seasons in Florida\, What to Grow When
DESCRIPTION:Winter is a very special time here in the garden. Though not so bright and abundant as far as tropicals go\, it’s a very important time for the circle of plant life. Some plants are getting dormant\, and some are gaining energy and starting to bloom. \nPeople who visit Florida from out of state are used to a picture-perfect\, never-changing palm-filled landscape. It’s not so peachy in reality of food forests and organic growing systems. Summer thrivers yellow up\, some trees completely defoliate\, and some look brown and beat. Every plant here in the garden has its own requirements and its own timing\, so we don’t expect them to be perfect 24/7 – 365. It’s exciting to see how each plant goes through seasons. \nDuring this garden tour you will see how winter is treating trees\, veggies and ground covers; how ultra tropicals have to be protected\, and how northern veggies thrive in cool weather. We’ll explain the importance of raised beds and the ways to keep them going\, show plants producing food year round (perennial vegetables) without extra care\, as well as annual winter edibles (with care:)\, our favorite fruit trees\, ground covers and some of our favorite garden friends living in a vermicompost bin. We will explain how you can save water and $ and grow food without irrigation or synthetic fertilization\, even during the dry months. \nYou will have a chance to purchase some organically grown perennial edibles and specially selected varieties of baby fruit trees from our garden stock. \nPrice: these tours are donation based. Your donations help us keep the garden beautiful. Paypal address for donations is oshomiami@gmail.com (all donations are tax deductible). \nPlease do not show up without registration and an email confirmation. DO NOT LOOK UP THE GARDEN ADDRESS ON GOOGLE MAPS\, IT WON’T TAKE YOU TO THE RIGHT PLACE. The address on google maps is an approximate address for technical reasons; you will get the exact venue address upon registration. Copy that address into your google maps for directions. Please don’t suggest changes to google maps. \nThe garden has no public bathroom. \nWe have a zero tolerance policy to drugs and alcohol. If you are found intoxicated you will be asked to leave and banned from future events. \nPhoto courtesy of our garden friend and donor Victor Lazzari\, a landscape designer & architect. www.junglegymfl.com Follow him on instagram @junglegymvictor

SUMMARY:Introduction to Organic Gardening: Do's and Don'ts
DESCRIPTION:Osho Bodhisattva Meditation Garden is not just a space for meditation but is also an organic\, pesticide- and herbicide-free edible garden for conscious education of the public about edible landscaping with native and pollinator-friendly plants. We are 100% vegan and non-violent\, and our garden is a certified Wildlife Habitat. 2 rescued bunnies help to naturally fertilize the Garden\, rescued community cats protect it against ruthless pests 🦎. \nWe raise monarch\, white peacock & zebra longwing butterflies 🦋 and support a multitude of other life forms 🐛 🦉. We promote the principles of biodynamics\, permaculture and natural cycling of organic matter. We grow and share food with our fellow meditators and friends of the Garden\, big and small. Non-human friends – birds\, butterflies\, bees\, other pollinators\, beneficial insects and mammals – all play their role and find food and shelter in Osho Bodhisattva Garden. \nAnd we can teach you how to do all of that in your own backyard! It’s fun and educational\, plus you can grow your food and protect the Earth at the same time. Step by step\, you will learn how to grow food not dependent on synthetic fertilizers and pesticides\, and how to “shop” for food in your own backyard instead of a supermarket. \nText us on the day of the tour to confirm that you’re coming or if you changed your mind. Please include your name in the text. The exact address of the garden and the phone number will be sent to you in a confirmation email.  \nWear a long sleeve shirt and pants to protect yourself from sun and mosquitoes\, and comfortable closed-toe shoes. Bring your water bottle with you. \nThis event will be automatically cancelled in case of rain. If it rains at 4pm\, you don’t need to text for cancellation. \n💚💚💚 \nAll our activities are donation-based. Maintaining the garden of this scale requires some financial contribution\, and we are grateful for every donation. All your donations are tax-deductible\, request a receipt for your tax return.

We are 100% vegan and non-violent\, and our garden is a certified Wildlife Habitat. 2 rescued bunnies help to naturally fertilize the Garden\, rescued community cats protect it against ruthless pests. \nWe raise monarch & zebra longwing butterflies and support a multitude of other life forms. It’s fun and educational\, plus you can grow your food and protect the Earth at the same time! \nTo schedule a garden tour\, please fill up the registration form. Specify your interests. \nAll our activities are donation-based. Maintaining the garden of this scale requires some financial contribution\, and we are grateful for every donation. All your donations are tax-deductible\, request a receipt for your tax return.
