Instagram post 2192207093624509667_4668519747 Pods and seeds of sesbania grandiflora, White hummingbird tree, a perfect permacultural tree of the tropics - all parts of the plant are edible, and medicinal (my daily multivitamin has it!), the tree is a nitrogen fixer (bean family) so it’s not only good for you but for your soil, as well. If you want seeds or seedlings - come pick up from the garden (for free). Sorry no shipping.
Instagram post 2188676615164599576_4668519747 Morning colors 💜
Instagram post 2188227325338173539_4668519747 There is this cool pest who cuts out puzzle pieces 🧩 from my crepe jasmine plant... if you have ever seen this kind of damage, let me know! The first for me...
Instagram post 2188093222391443486_4668519747 This young female raccoon showed up in our patio this morning, absolutely not afraid of either humans or dogs, tried to play with me and Munchkin, and has been following me around the garden like a pet... she is desperately trying to get inside the house, knows how to open a sliding door 😦 was she someone’s pet? And then they dumped her here???
Instagram post 2188057948412278277_4668519747 We’ve been mulching on and off for the last couple of weeks, preparing the garden for the dry season...💚
Instagram post 2187972098089497216_4668519747 I saw a hack online about saving onion butts, and decided to try it. It worked!!! 😻 in Florida, onions don’t grow willingly, so this trick saves a lot of time growing them... and it’s free! 💰
Instagram post 2185705106800227832_4668519747 What do you do when you have too many beets? You make beet-everything! 😆 beet “meat” makes perfect cutlets, and the juice helps with blood purification. After juicing you’re left over with tons of beet and carrot pulp, and it makes substance very similar to regular ground meet used for burgers. Add a little bit of flour of choice (i use quinoa), a little bit of oil of choice, your favorite spices and voila! Beet cutlets 💚Use the same leftovers for sauce or soup purée- boil it and run through a food processor with a dash of coconut cream and house herbs. Yummy! 😋#hungryharvest
Instagram post 2184416683292499013_4668519747 Almost there 💚💚💚
Instagram post 2183516787584581051_4668519747 If you cannot cook, you can still eat healthy, just chop and cube all the good healthy foods, like this restaurant does :)
Instagram post 2181508027815281796_4668519747 Galangal, Alpinia galanga, an aromatic root spice similar to ginger but much more freshly flavorful, is what gives Thai cuisine its peculiar taste. Like ginger and turmeric, it’s rich in vitamins, possesses anti-inflammatory qualities and grows wonderfully without any care in rich organic soil of our (sub)tropical climate. Mine are around human height now, i have around 20 clumps, they all grew from a tuber of similar size as pictured, sent to me as a precious surprise gift by @fo_shizel Christa 💚
Instagram post 2180176437310716138_4668519747 Just found out that the whole plant of winged bean (Manila or Princess bean) is edible. The plant grows perennial tubers; dried seeds are somewhat small and can be cooked like regular beans; young shoots are used instead of spinach in cooking, and flowers are eaten raw in salads. A perfect plant 😻 (the photo is from the internet, not mine).
Instagram post 2179173335468300313_4668519747 Almost the same ingredients as open rolls, but now they’re more like giant tacos! 🌮 🌮
Instagram post 2178656275872909449_4668519747 I want to be a butterfly: first eat-eat-eat and nothing but eat, then sleep, and then wake up skinny and beautiful 😂
Instagram post 2178614246128457171_4668519747 Unexpected rains 💚💚💚
Instagram post 2177968123252525192_4668519747 These open rice paper “shrim’ rolls” can be stuffed with virtually anything you like/have in your fridge. The rice paper of better quality/non-GMO is sold in Asian isle of Whole Foods, and spicy kimchi is used instead of shrimps for color. 0 calorie Kelp noodles to keep it slim 😋
Instagram post 2177030661244140335_4668519747 Geometry in nature - shefflera seeds 💚
Instagram post 2176345539159182005_4668519747 Vegan lunch: Russian summer salad, chana+moringa leaf soup, roasted potatoes+veganaise. And a huge bunch of dill in everything! 💚
